Get a Free ItineraryWhy India
India does not ask you to be young, fast, or adventurous. It asks you to be present, curious, and open — qualities that come more naturally with age.
The Taj Mahal at sunrise, a morning boat on the Ganges, a long afternoon in a Rajput palace garden — none of these require stamina. They require time and the willingness to be genuinely moved. Senior travellers who slow down consistently find India gives back more than almost any other destination they have visited.
For British, American and Australian visitors, the practical side is easier than you might expect. English is spoken everywhere you need it. The Golden Triangle — Delhi, Agra and Jaipur — has been welcoming international visitors for decades, with excellent hotels at every level, reliable private transport, and heritage sites that have been visited by travellers of every age and mobility.
We never double-book your mornings. See the Taj Mahal properly, then rest. The fort will wait.
Every road transfer is planned around comfort, not efficiency. Stops included whenever you want them.
Unscheduled time is where the best travel happens — a long lunch, a quiet market, a conversation.
Our guides know when to talk and when to let you stand in silence in front of something extraordinary.
Standing in front of the Taj Mahal at sunrise on a cold December morning — the marble shifting from pink to gold to white as the sun came up — is an hour I will never forget. We were in no rush, and that made all the difference.

Itineraries
Every itinerary below is a starting point, not a fixed product. We adjust the pace, the hotels, and the day order to fit your travel dates, mobility and interests.
Delhi · Agra · Jaipur
The most popular senior travel itinerary in India, and the most rewarding. Two nights in Delhi for Old Delhi's Red Fort and Chandni Chowk and Humayun's Tomb. Two nights in Agra with a sunrise Taj Mahal visit and an afternoon at Agra Fort. Three nights in Jaipur for Amber Fort, the old city bazaars, and a fully free day to explore at your own pace. Drives are three to four hours maximum. All transport by private air-conditioned car with a dedicated driver.
Delhi · Agra · Jaipur · Varanasi
The Golden Triangle extended to include Varanasi — one of the oldest cities in the world, a sacred city on the Ganges where the evening fire ceremony on the river bank is one of the most extraordinary spectacles on earth. A morning boat ride drifting past the ghats at sunrise requires no physical effort at all. Two nights in Varanasi completes a trip that shows India's Mughal grandeur, its Rajput heritage, and its ancient spiritual heart. Fly Delhi to Varanasi; return from Varanasi or Delhi.
Delhi · Agra · Jaipur · Ranthambore · Udaipur
Two full weeks through the best of northern India and Rajasthan. After the Golden Triangle, continue south to Ranthambore National Park — tiger safaris done entirely by jeep, with outstanding lodge accommodation and some of the most dramatic landscapes in Rajasthan. Then on to Udaipur, consistently rated one of the most romantic cities in the world, with its white palace rising from the lake and rooftop restaurants that look out over the water at dusk. The perfect last stop before the flight home.

When to Go
Northern India's winter months align perfectly with the UK and US holiday calendar — and they happen to be when the region is at its most beautiful.
November and December are arguably the finest months in the region: mild days of 22–28°C, cool evenings, clear skies, and the golden afternoon light that falls across Rajasthan's sandstone forts. January is cooler and equally comfortable for daytime travel. For travellers no longer tied to school term dates, this is the ideal window.
Important: The Taj Mahal is closed every Friday without exception. We always plan your Agra day to avoid Fridays.
Costs
India's luxury hotels are world-class and cost a fraction of equivalent properties in Europe. A well-organised senior tour can be done at any budget.
All figures include return flights from the UK, hotels, private car and driver for the full trip, guided tours at each monument, and all entry fees. Food is additional and exceptionally good value — a full dinner at a mid-range restaurant costs £8–£15 per person.
Common Questions
The Golden Triangle is one of the most visited tourist circuits in the world, and it is very well set up for international visitors. With a private tour operator, you always have a driver and a guide who know the area, and a 24-hour Delhi-based contact for anything that comes up. The main precautions for senior travellers are practical ones: hydration, sun exposure, and food hygiene — all easily managed with a bit of care.
The Taj Mahal is more accessible than most people expect — battery-operated buggies run from the gate to the monument, and the most powerful experience of the Taj requires no climbing at all. At Amber Fort, jeeps carry visitors up to the entrance. Most of the important halls and courtyards across the three cities are accessible once inside. We ask about specific mobility requirements when planning your itinerary and design the route accordingly.
No vaccinations are currently required to enter India from the UK, USA or Australia. Your GP may recommend Hepatitis A and typhoid vaccinations as precautions for travel in the region. Bring a full supply of all regular medications in your carry-on luggage, plus a written list of generic names and dosages. Most common Western medications are available in India, but having your own supply means you are never dependent on local availability.
UK, US and Australian citizens can apply for an Indian e-Visa online at the official Indian government portal. The fee is around $25 USD, the process takes around 15 minutes, and approval typically comes through within 72 hours. No embassy visit required — the visa is issued digitally. Apply at least five days before travel to be safe, and make sure your passport has at least six months of validity remaining.
All our tours are private — there are no group departures, no fixed schedules, and no sharing a minibus with strangers. Whether you are travelling as a couple, with family, or with friends, the itinerary, the car and the guides are yours alone. The price per person works out very well for couples and small groups.
The Taj Mahal is closed every Friday without exception for weekly maintenance and prayers. This applies year-round, regardless of season, festivals or special dates. We always check your travel dates and plan your Agra day to avoid Fridays automatically. Note: December 25, 2026 falls on a Friday — the Taj Mahal will be closed on Christmas Day this year.
Tell us your travel dates, the pace you want, and the experiences that interest you most. We will send you a custom itinerary within 24 hours — no obligation, no pressure.
