Processing takes 72 hours. New 2026 requirement: All travellers must complete the Su-Swagatam digital arrival card within 72 hours before landing — free, 5 minutes, at indianvisaonline.gov.in/earrival/. Planning Around School Terms
India's best travel season (October to March) aligns almost perfectly with England's school holiday calendar. Here's how the key windows stack up.
Post-monsoon clarity at the Taj. Ranthambore opens Oct 1. Warm days, cool evenings. One of the best windows of the year.
Cool and pleasant. Busiest period — book 4+ months ahead. Some morning fog at the Taj from mid-December. Still excellent overall.
Ideal temperature (15–25°C), manageable crowds, Taj Mahotsav festival (Feb 18–27). One of the finest windows for families.
Early April is excellent — warm but manageable. Late April heats up significantly. Aim for the first week of April if possible.
UK summer = India monsoon and extreme heat. Not recommended for the Golden Triangle or Rajasthan. Kerala and Darjeeling work in July–August.
November and January mid-weeks are the finest India travel windows — perfect weather, lower prices than peak holiday periods, manageable crowds.
